10 Healthy Drinks to Lose Weight When You Don’t Exercise

10 Healthy Drinks to Lose Weight When You Don’t Exercise
10 Healthy Drinks to Help Lose Weight without Exercise

One easy way to gain weight is not paying attention to what we drink, but these healthy drinks to lose weight will start you on a more healthy lifestyle trend. Plus, you’ll feel more energized to do these fun date ideas with your partner or check off these activities from your ultimate travel bucket list.

Including the healthy drinks listed in this blog post further down in your daily lives will go a long way to managing weight gain.

This becomes especially important when you don’t like to exercise like I don’t. Of course, realistically, as you can imagine, eating and drinking healthy plus exercise is, without argument, the best combination to lose weight and feel energized. (*Here are some other simple ways to lose weight without exercise).

I love me some wine, beer, and cocktails and it shows in my belly. *:(

While I don’t expect to drop these completely I have started to supplement other drinks to quench my desire for alcohol while avoiding sugar.

What drinks do you love that might be working against you and adding unwanted weight to your waistline?

Here’s a list of drinks that you may want to consider changing regularly for healthy drinks to lose weight. (Some you already knew… how about the others?)

STOP Drinking These WEIGHT-GAINERS All the Time!

Soda

Soda contains high levels of sugar, which can lead to weight gain over time. (But you knew this already). And here’s another healthy fizzy drink that could lower weight.

Sweetened Iced Tea

Similar to soda, sweetened iced tea is high in sugar and can contribute to weight gain.

Energy Drinks

Energy drinks are often high in calories and sugar, which can lead to weight gain if consumed regularly.

Fruit Juice

While fruit juice can be a healthier choice than soda, it still contains high levels of sugar and calories that can contribute to weight gain.

Chocolate Milk

While it may be a tasty treat, chocolate milk is high in sugar and calories, making it a drink that can contribute to weight gain.

Flavored Coffee Drinks

Many flavored coffee drinks are high in sugar and calories, making them an easy way to consume excess calories and gain weight.

Milkshakes

Milkshakes are high in calories and sugar, making them a drink that can contribute to weight gain if consumed regularly.

Smoothies

While smoothies can be a healthy choice, they can also be high in sugar and calories if made with sweetened ingredients like fruit juice or flavored yogurt. And here’s a tasty healthy drink invented by a former fireman from Pennsylvania that helped him shed 62 pounds.

Alcoholic Beverages

Many alcoholic beverages are high in calories and sugar and can contribute to weight gain if consumed regularly. (Pretty much all alcoholic drinks contain sugar or convert to it).

Sports Drinks

While they can be helpful for athletes, many sports drinks are high in sugar and calories, making them a drink that can contribute to weight gain if consumed regularly.

Instead, consider these healthy drinks to support a healthy diet.

START Drinking these instead more often…

10 Healthy Drinks to Lose Weight When You Don’t Like to Exercise

Water

Drinking water is one of the best ways to stay hydrated and lose weight. It has zero calories and can help you feel full, reducing your appetite. Add lemon juice for flavor and to cut appetite. If you don’t like to drink still water like I don’t here is an alternative healthy drink to lose weight to consider.

Green Tea

Green tea is packed with antioxidants and contains a compound called catechin, which can help increase metabolism and burn fat. (DO NOT add sugar. Read the ingredient label before drinking).

(*Green tea catechins, caffeine and body-weight regulation: Department of Human Biology, Nutrim, Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences, Maastricht University, P.O. Box 616, 6200 MD, Maastricht, The Netherlands)

Black Coffee

Black coffee is a low-calorie drink that can help boost metabolism and aid weight loss. Just be mindful of the added sugar and cream that can increase the calorie count.

(*Coffee Consumption and Body Weight Regulation: New York Obesity Nutrition Research Center, St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital, Institute of Human Nutrition, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York, NY, USA)

Vegetable Juice

Vegetable juices are a great way to get essential nutrients and vitamins while cutting down on calories. They also provide fiber that can keep you full and reduce cravings. (Read the ingredient label first to check for sugar).

Low-fat Milk

Low-fat milk is a good source of calcium and protein, which can help build muscles and boost metabolism. It also contains fewer calories compared to whole milk.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is a low-calorie drink that is rich in electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium. It can help boost energy levels and aid in weight loss.

Protein Shake

Protein shakes are a convenient way to increase protein intake, which can help build muscles and burn fat. Just make sure to choose a low-calorie and low-sugar option.

Herbal Tea

Herbal teas such as chamomile, peppermint, and ginger tea can help reduce stress, improve digestion, and boost metabolism. And check out this healthy alternative drink to manage weight.

Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented drink that is rich in probiotics, which can help improve gut health and aid in weight loss.

(*A review on health benefits of kombucha nutritional compounds and metabolites)

Sparkling Water

Sparkling water is a great alternative to sugary sodas and can help keep you hydrated while filling you up. Just make sure to choose an option without added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

These healthy drinks to lose weight can dramatically affect how you feel daily injecting you with a boost of energy.

But how do they do it?

What happens scientifically to make these healthy drinks to lose weight and prevent you from adding extra unwanted pounds?

The Science Behind Healthy Drinks to Lose Weight

Healthy drinks can play an important role in weight management and support weight loss. One of the main ways they do this is by increasing feelings of fullness and reducing hunger. This is because many healthy drinks are high in fiber, which takes longer to digest and keeps us feeling full for longer periods of time.

In addition, some healthy drinks, such as green tea and coffee, contain caffeine, which can help boost our metabolism and increase our calorie burn. Other drinks, like water and herbal tea, can help to flush out excess water weight and reduce bloating.

Certain healthy drinks also contain ingredients that have been shown to have a positive effect on weight management. For example, apple cider vinegar has been shown to reduce appetite and promote feelings of fullness, while ginger can improve digestion and reduce inflammation in the body – both of which can promote weight loss and management.

*It’s important to note that while healthy drinks can be a helpful tool in weight management, they should not be relied on as the sole solution. A healthy diet and regular exercise are still generally accepted as the most important factors in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. However, incorporating healthy drinks into your routine can provide additional support and help you reach your goals.

What are your favorite healthy drinks to lose weight from the list above?

Easy Ways to Lose Weight Without Exercise or Dieting

Easy Ways to Lose Weight Without Exercise or Dieting

Lose weight without exercise?

Is it even possible?

Losing weight can become an even more challenging task for those who don’t enjoy exercise or have physical limitations. However, there are several ways to shed those extra pounds without hitting the gym or going for a run. Personally, I hate exercise, but I love beer and whiskey- not a good combo if I want to keep off those extra pounds as I get older.

So it got me thinking. If I want to enjoy more activities with my partner on date nights, weekend getaways, or on vacation what can I do to keep the beer belly in check while possibly increasing energy levels?

Here are some options:

20 Effective Ways to Lose Weight without Exercise

1. Drink plenty of water

Drinking water before meals can help reduce calorie intake and boost metabolism. And if you don’t particularly like drinking tons of water like I don’t (actually I prefer soda water). Check out the fizzy juice that this former fireman from Lancaster, PA invented to lose weight without exercise that dissolved 62 lbs!

2. Use smaller plates

Eating on smaller plates can help trick your brain into feeling full with smaller portions.

3. Get enough sleep

Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, so aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night.

4. Chew slowly

Taking the time to chew your food slowly can help you feel full faster and prevent overeating.

5. Eat Protein-Rich Foods

Protein helps keep you full and satisfied, so include foods like eggs, fish, and chicken in your diet and is another way to help lose weight without exercise.

(*Dr M.S. Westerterp-Plantenga, Department of Human Biology, Nutrim, Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands)

6. Avoid sugary drinks

Sugary drinks like soda and juice are high in calories and can contribute to weight gain. Avoiding these drinks (or at least limiting them) serves as one of the main ways to lose weight without exercise.

This tasty fizzy juice helped it’s inventor sky rocket metabolism and trigger an internal fat-burning mechanism to dissolve 62 pounds! … [Click here] to get more info.

7. Eat fiber-rich foods

Fiber helps keep you full and regulates digestion, so include foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet. Cleansing your body faster to get rid of waste is basic bodily function that can help you lose weight without exercise.

(*Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota)

8. Practice mindful eating

Pay attention to your food while eating and avoid distractions like TV and phones.

9. Use spices and herbs

Spices and herbs like cinnamon and cayenne pepper can help boost metabolism and aid in weight loss.

10. Avoid processed foods

Processed foods are often high in calories and low in nutrients, so opt for whole, unprocessed foods instead. (Here’s one of my biggest downfalls. I love potato chips.)

11. Cook at home

Cooking at home allows you to control ingredients and portion sizes, which can aid in weight loss.

12. Eat slowly-digesting carbohydrates

Slow-digesting carbs like sweet potatoes and oatmeal can help keep you full for longer periods of time.

13. Reduce stress

High levels of stress can lead to weight gain, so find ways to manage stress like meditation or yoga. Mental and emotional health often get neglected in our busy everyday lives.

14. Drink green tea

Green tea contains antioxidants and catechins that can help boost metabolism and aid in weight loss. But to make this work to lose weight without exercise do NOT drink green tea with sugar or sweetners. This juice shed 62 lbs for it’s inventor. [Click here] for more info on this juice to see if it’s right for you. *Studies have shown indications that green tea consumption may lower unhealthy cholesterol.

(*General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC))

15. Don’t skip meals

Skipping meals can lead to overeating later on, so aim to eat regular, balanced meals throughout the day.

16. Use a smaller fork

Using a smaller fork can help trick your brain into thinking you’re eating more than you actually are.

17. Avoid late-night snacking

Late-night snacking can lead to excess calorie intake, so avoid eating after dinner. (Another downfall of mine).

18. Keep healthy snacks on hand

Having healthy snacks like fruit and nuts on hand can help prevent overeating and unhealthy snacking.

19. Eat more probiotic-rich foods

Probiotics are good for gut health and can aid in weight loss, so include foods like yogurt and kefir in your diet. Trim your gut with this fizzy juice co-invented by a former fireman from Lancaster, PA. [Click Here] to get more info to decide if it’s for you.

20. Substitute Flavored Soda Water and Unsweet Mocktails for Alcohol

Drinking plenty of water throughout the day can help prevent overeating and aid in weight loss. I find drinking flavored soda water or mocktails (virgin drinks) with soda water curbs my desire for alcohol.

Incorporating these tips into your daily routine can help you lose weight without exercise. Remember to be patient and consistent, as weight loss is a gradual process.

And while following all the suggestions above can help you lose weight without exercise but what are some common causes of weight gain in the first place?

Let’s take a look at possible explanations.

How Do We Gain Weight? Common Explanations…

Gaining weight is a complex process that involves several factors. One of the primary factors is calorie intake. When we consume more calories than our body needs, the excess is stored as fat, leading to weight gain. However, it’s not just about the number of calories we consume, but also the quality of the food we eat. Processed and high-sugar foods can contribute to weight gain more significantly than whole foods, which are nutrient-dense and filling.

Another factor that contributes to weight gain is a sedentary lifestyle. When we don’t move enough, our body doesn’t burn as many calories, and the excess calories are stored as fat. Exercise can help to burn calories and build muscle, which can increase our metabolism and help us maintain a healthy weight.

Hormonal imbalances can also contribute to weight gain. For example, an underactive thyroid can slow down our metabolism, making it easier to gain weight. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can also cause weight gain due to insulin resistance.

Stress and lack of sleep can also contribute to weight gain. When we’re stressed, our body releases cortisol, a hormone that can increase appetite and lead to overeating. Lack of sleep can also disrupt the hormones that control hunger and fullness, leading to overeating and weight gain.

Overall, gaining weight is a complex process that involves several factors, including calorie intake, the quality of the food we eat, our level of physical activity, hormonal imbalances, stress, and sleep. By understanding these factors and making healthy choices, we can maintain a healthy weight and avoid the negative health consequences of excess weight.

1. Castles in the US

Did you know there are castles in the United States? (In some cases follies- mansions that look like castles).

Find out what US castles are close to you or close to your next couples getaway.

You can even rent some out for your wedding, while others serve as hotels or museums.

But most you can tour.

Headed to NYC soon? [Click Here for Info/Deals] on Belvedere Castle and Central Park Tours

2. Helicopter Rides

Some of the best travel bucket list ideas include getting a bird’s eye view. Rising high above a popular city or taking in a scenic mountain or coastal view can be a once-in-lifetime experience.

Most cities offer helicopter rides, even here in Orlando, there a quite a few to choose from.

Headed to Niagara Falls soon?

3. Hot Air Balloon Rides

Sticking with the “bird’s-eye-view” theme, hot air balloon rides for couples make for some of the most romantic travel bucket list ideas.

You can even experience first-hand some of the best US cities for hot air balloon festivals while checking out the surrounding attractions.

Check out my blog post for Hot Air Balloon Rides and Festivals for Couples to Visit

4. Whale Watching Cruises

Can you imagine seeing a whale in the wild?! There are many places here in the US and throughout the world where you can take guided whale-watching tours.

This is personally one of my top travel bucket list ideas and I almost got to check it off when I went to Seattle last year.

Both the East and West Coast, plus Alaska offer many places to view these mammoth beasts in their natural settings.

Headed to Hawaii soon?

[Click Here for the Best Deals] on Whale Watching Tours in Hawaii

Check out my blog post on Best Whale Watching Cruises for Couples.

5. Florida Dolphin Cruises

Living in Florida makes it easier to see dolphins in the wild.

I’ve lucked out a few times to see them by being at the right place at the right time.

But I’ve also taken a few guided dolphin boat rides.

One of my favorite things to do is a sunset cruise where you sip a cocktail or glass of wine at the end of the ride after viewing dolphins chasing your boat.

If you’re interested in a romantic couples getaway to Florida then check out my blog post 5 Weekend Paradises in Florida for Couples.

6. Florida Everglades Airboat Rides

Here’s another one of the travel bucket list ideas that makes it easier for me since I live in Florida.

While I’ve seen hundreds of American Alligators in the wild, there is a certain sense of mystique that comes with taking a trip down to the Florida Everglades.

You can take airboat rides here in Orlando too, but if you want to see some of the biggest gators I’ve ever seen then travel to the Everglades.

7. US Riverboat Cruises

Cruising up the Ohio or Mississippi river, feeling like Mark Twain back in the 1800s is quite the nostalgic idea for a romantic getaway.

We met a couple at a rooftop bar in St. Louis who were to embark on one.

That’s where the idea of a US riverboat cruise sparked in my head.

Many make several stops at river port cities along the way. All serve meals and provide entertainment.

Think of it like the cruises we all know about at sea but on a river instead.

8. Scenic US Train Rides

My mother used to tell me how she’d travel across the country from Ohio to California on full-service train rides.

If you’re looking for unique travel bucket list ideas for couples then here is a hidden gem that’s worth looking into.

Imagine all the natural beauty you’d encounter along the way from mountains, plains and big cities.

It’d be like taking several trips in one.

9. Underground City Tours in the US

When I went to Seattle the tour wasn’t taking place due to Covid, but parts of the city (Pioneer Square) had burnt to the ground in the 1800s.

And instead of knocking everything down the city decided to build on top of the ruins.

You can tour this underground city frozen in time.

As well as other interesting underground tours throughout the US and World.

Here’s a list of some behind-the-scenes tours of famous US landmarks.

10. European Castles

As cool as it is to visit castles and mansions here in the US imagine how mind-blowing it would be to visit a real-life fairytale-like castle in France or Germany.

Tell me that’s not one of the most awesome hidden gem travel bucket list ideas.

Many you can tour and even some stand erect in the middle of a fully functioning town.

Learn about the history and picture what life was like over a thousand years ago.

11. Top World Wineries and Vineyards

ultimate bucket list ideas for couples

New or Old World, or both, if you want to experience a time-stands-still moment, then relax or plan an entire trip or getaway for this idea.

Luckily for me, I’ve checked this off my bucket list, but I love going so much that I plan to return to Sonoma or Napa this year with my girlfriend.

Of course, this only makes sense if you like wine, but you don’t need to be a connoisseur.

Many are usually clustered together in each wine region.

But I’d recommend plotting out a few to check out before you travel or you could lose a lot of time.

12. Royal Palace Tours

Yes, this is similar to the castle idea, but many palaces are (or were) fully-functioning residents for royalty or important high-up dignitaries.

Imagine touring the White House, Buckingham Palace, Belvedere in Vienna, or the Berlin Palace.

13. All-inclusive Dude Ranches

Do you want travel bucket list ideas for couples to truly escape and leave work and other daily life behind?

Book a trip to a dude ranch where you can participate in activities such as Horseback riding, biking, fly fishing, go whitewater rafting, take guided hikes through the mountains or canyons, do a cowboy bbq, make cowboy campfires, power tubing, or stargaze.

14. Private Charter Boat Rides to Secluded Caribbean Islands

Boating to secluded islands lined with blue water and chock full of tropical fish of all different colors will certainly make time stand still.

I’ve had the opportunity of experiencing just that when I lived in Venezuela.

You can find affordable private charter boat rides throughout the Caribbean.

This makes for one of the most memorable hidden gem travel bucket list ideas you might want to explore.

15. Treehouse Rentals

Sounds like something right out of a movie, doesn’t it?

But you can rent treehouses in many different spots including here in Walt Disney World.

However, I’m sure you can find other more affordable treehouse rentals elsewhere.

Some are located in resorts with many activities to have fun with.

This can be a short romantic couples getaway too.

16. Luxury European Train Rides

See multiple European countries while traveling in style.

Well-appointed cabins, gourmet meals, and opulent lounge cars highlight this unforgettable experience.

Take in some of the most scenic views nature has to offer.

In this case, the journey is the highlight of the trip and not the final destination.

17. Candy Factory Tours

This is just a child’s dream come true, it’s an adult’s too.

Watch in amazement as you see millions of pieces of candy get created right before your eyes.

Learn about the history and production of some of the world’s most beloved candy.

Most candy factory tours include free samples too.

It just keeps getting better.

Here’s a list of some behind-the-scenes tours of famous US landmarks.

18. Luxury Spa Resort Getaway

The ultimate escape-from-reality trip and one of the travel bucket list ideas you should do more than once.

Enjoy getting pampered together and leave all your worries behind.

Take a dip in the jacuzzi, get a couples massage, smooth out those tense muscles around your eyes and forehead with a facial.

Or even turn those calves and feet into putty with a pedicure.

Enjoy upscale dinners and cocktails.

Nothing but relaxation for the entire getaway.

Check out some of the best romantic spa resorts in the US.

19. Autumn Road Trip to View

Here in Florida, we don’t get the four seasons, but I remember what Fall was like while growing up in Ohio.

I try to get back up there in October whenever I can.

A long drive by itself makes this one of the most scenic travel bucket list ideas on the list.

In the northeastern states, you could choose two destinations separated by several hours to turn these couples’ travel ideas into two highlights: the drive and the final destination.

20. Birdwatching

Some of nature’s most beautiful creatures are birds.

Whether witnessing a giant bald eagle rest in its nest, hummingbirds floating a short distance away or witnessing a toucan in the wild.

Birdwatching is one of those hidden gem bucket list ideas that could take you anywhere around the globe.

And it’d be just as magical no matter where you ended up.

21. Underground Caves Exploration

Drop down to a whole new world far beneath the earth’s surface.

No matter where you live you are not that far away from one of these nature’s wonders.

Or perhaps you’d like to make a list of them to visit and check off the ones that interest you the most.

Here are some of the most famous underground cave destinations for adventurous couples.

22. Epic Cocktail Bar Crawl

Before I discovered my passion for craft cocktails, I never had any interest to visit New Orleans.

Now I want to go every year.

Each cocktail bar and lounge presents its own character and some of the most world-renown drinks came from one of their menus.

Take a guided tour of some of the most famous cities around the world known for their cocktail bars.

If you visit New Orleans I highly recommend taking a cocktail crafting class so you can learn to make several of their classic drinks known around the world.

23. Foodie Tour

And after your down with the cocktail crawl participate in a guided foodie tour to learn the history of a local city’s cuisine and famous dining establishments.

You’ve watched tours like these on the Food Network a dozen times.

Now it’s time to do it for real.

Here’s a list of some behind-the-scenes tours of famous US landmarks.

24. Holiday Decoration Getaway

You haven’t quite experienced the holidays until seeing the giant Christmas tree in the Rockefeller Center in NYC.

In addition to NYC, there are dozens of small towns across the US and world that would leave you breathless from the decorations and charm.

Who says the holidays have to always be about gift-giving.

Give each other the gift of travel for the next holiday season.

Plan in advance because many others have the same idea. Prices for lodging skyrocket this time of year.

And the closer you get the less availability you’ll find.

Disney World for the Holidays

Worth noting is that our Disney parks here in Orlando are stunning during the holiday season.

Just do NOT go after the 19th because it gets beyond packed.

As a long-time Cast Member at Disney World, I can tell you that the first two weeks of December are typically the best time the entire year to visit.

There are fewer crowds, the prices for lodging are lower, and the decorations and fireworks are the best for the entire year.

Of course, keep in mind that this is Disney World we’re talking about. It’s still busy and expensive compared to other theme parks around the world.

So, if you’ve never come to Disney World then you could check off two travel bucket list ideas on one trip.

25. Rocket Launch

If you’re not from Florida then you might find it hard to believe that you can see rocket launches from hours away from Cape Canaveral, including right from Disney property.

But nothing beats seeing a rocket launch than up close.

The ground rumbles and the fire and flames burst out of the boosters.

And there’s something surreal about seeing an object leave the planet right before your eyes.

While you’re in the neighborhood stop by the Kennedy Space Center to see some of the old rockets and learn about the history of space travel.

26. Major Sports Event

I’ve gotten lucky here and have checked off one of my top bucket list items- I went to Game 7 of the World Series in 2016 with my team playing in it.

No matter what sport you like most, attending a major sports event such as World Cup or European Champions League match, or the Super Bowl will give you an emotional rush.

27. Iconic Landmarks

Have you gone to the top of the Eiffel Tower or the St. Louis Gateway Arch? How about the Great Wall of China or the Taj Mahal.

Iconic landmarks deserve a bucket list checklist of their own.

How many have you visited?

28. World Famous Museums

Whether you think you like museums or not, I do believe that there are museums to suit everyone’s interest.

Art, history, archeology, dinosaurs, space, space travel, technology, etc.

Make a bucket list checklist for famous museums too.

Choose your top ones to visit first.

  • Le Louvre Museum- Paris
  • The Metropolitan of Art- NYC
  • The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
  • The Prado- Madrid, Spain
  • The Vatican Museums- Vatican City, Italy
  • The Smithsonian Institution- Washington, DC
  • The State Mermitage Museum- St. Petersburg, Russia
  • The Uffizi Galleries- Florence, Italy
  • The British Museum- London
  • Smithsonian Museum of Natural History- Washington DC
  • Natural History Museum- London
  • Shanghai Science and Technology Museum
  • Vasa Museum- Stockholm
  • American Musuem of Natural History- NYC

29. Super High Observation Decks

I don’t mean just any observation deck at the top of a tall building, I’m referring to the highest ones on the planet.

This is the best way to eat authentic local cuisine.

Typically, the class prepares one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert.

In the last New Orleans cooking class, we also received local Abita beer. Yum!

If you’re looking for an experience similar to a cathedral tour then you might just want to add this to your travel bucket list ideas.

Take advantage of the chance of learning about a new and interesting culture and perhaps about unfamiliar history.

Here are a few ideas for temple tours:

  • Ranakpur Jain- Pali, India
  • Wat Rong Khun- Chiang Rai, Thailand
  • Kinkaku-ji (The Golden Pavilion), Kyoto, Japan
  • Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo, Japan
  • Paro Taktsang in the Paro Valley, Bhutan

  • The Temples of Abu Simbel- Abu Simbel, Egypt
  • Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram- Bangkok, Thailand

85. Broadway Musical

If you live close to New York City then this probably does not make your travel bucket list ideas checklist.

However, if you live far away then this might just be your dream come true.

The atmosphere of a performing arts theater makes for quite the experience by itself, then the show is the icing on the cake.

Make plans to visit NYC and stop for a show.

Check out the schedule of these Broadway Theatres

86. Hollywood Stars Tour

Right before I took one of these double-decker bus tours I figured it’d be lame and feel very touristy.

Well, it did feel touristy, but I found it quite interesting as we traveled the streets of Hollywood Hills as the tour guide pointed out famous stars’ homes and provided some backstory.

Check Groupon for deals.

87. Drive Over Famous Bridges

Having family in the Bay area gave me the chance to visit San Francisco as a kid.

But it wasn’t until I started to return as an adult and drive over the Golden Gate Bridge that I got the full experience.

Drive up to Battery Spencer and Hawk Hill at Marin Headlands to get some of the best postcard views of the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown SF, and the bay.

Here is a list of famous US bridges to drive over:

  • Golden Gate Bridge
  • Sunshine Skyway Bridge- near St Petersburg, FL
  • Royal Gorge Bridge- near Cañon City, Colorado
  • The Brooklyn Bridge
  • Seven Mile Bridge- Florida Keys
  • Chesapeake Bay Bridge- Chesapeake Bay, MD
  • Mackinac Bridge- Michigan Peninsula
  • Mike O’Callaghan- Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge- near Hoover Dam
  • Lake Pontchartrain Causeway- New Orleans, Louisiana

88. Top Comedy Clubs

All cities have comedy clubs, but why not grab a show at some of the world’s most popular ones?

Instead of just laughing hysterically over your favorite comedians’ jokes on YouTube, consider sitting a few rows back from the stage at a live comedy show.

Here is a list of some popular comedy clubs here in the US:

  • Hollywood Improv
  • Laugh Factory- Los Angeles
  • The Comedy Store- Los Angeles
  • The Punch Line San Francisco
  • Improv Asylum- Boston
  • Helium Comedy Club- Philadelphia
  • Zanies- Nashville, TN
  • Acme Comedy Company- Minneapolis, MN
  • Cap City- Austin, TX
  • Gotham Comedy Club- NYC

89. World-Famous Theatres

Sydney Opera House | Photo Credit Dietmar Rabich

Taking in a Broadway show is one bucket list idea, but what about traveling to some of the world’s most famous theatres?

Take a tour of the venue to learn the rich stories of famous actors and about its history.

Here are a few ideas to consider:

  • La Scala de Milan
  • Sydney Opera House
  • Bolshoi Theatre- Moscow
  • Palais Garnier- Paris
  • Royal Opera House- London
  • Teatro la Fenice- Venice, Italy
  • The Metropolitan Opera House, NYC
  • Teatro Colon- Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Liceo de Barcelona
  • Teatro Real Madrid
  • Teatro Amazonas- Manaus, Brazil
  • Operahuset- Oslo, Norway
  • Radio City Music Hall, NYC
  • Vienna Opera House

90. Famous Volcanoes

There is a lot of mystique and history surrounding many of the world’s volcanoes.

Take, for example, Mt. Vesuvius that completed destroyed Pompeii.

The city was essentially fossilized in one instance.

And there are many other volcanoes that have erupted in recorded history that have their own stories to tell.

Here are a few famous volcanoes for you to check out:

  • Mount Fiju, Japan
  • Mount Ranier, Washington (US)
  • Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland
  • Mount Vesuvius, Italy
  • Mount Etna, Italy
  • Mount Merapi, Indonesia
  • Mount Nyiragongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Pacaya, Guatemala
  • Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica
  • Kīlauea, Hawaii
  • Mount Aso, Japan
  • Cotopaxi, Ecuador
  • Stromboli, Italy
  • White Island, New Zealand
  • Sakurajima, Japan
  • Mount Pinatubo, Phillipines
  • Iztaccihuatl, Mexico
  • Villarica, Chile

91. Meteor Craters

Here’s another one of the more unique and interesting bucket list ideas.

Don’t you get shivers thinking about extra-terrestrial objects paying a visit to earth?

Some of these meteor craters are so big you could fit a theme park inside them with room to spare.

Here is a list of meteor craters worth checking into:

  • Lonar Crater Lake in Maharashtra, India
  • Dhala Crater in Madhya Pradesh, India
  • Wolfe Creek Crater in Wolfe Creek Crater National Park, Australia
  • Kaali Meteorite Crater Field in Saaremaa, Estonia
  • The Shiva Crater Theory
  • Meteor Crater National Landmark (Barringer Crater), Arizona
  • Chicxulub Crater, Mexico
  • Gosses Bluff, Northern Territory, Australia
  • Vredefort Crater, South Africa
  • Aorounga Crater, Chad

92. Best Sky Diving Locations

Sky diving by itself is a little cliche, but that depends where you dive.

These locations add a whole new exciting dimension to the sport.

Check out these locations for sky diving:

  • Blue Hole, Belize
  • Mount Everest, Nepal
  • Fox Glacier, New Zealand
  • Hawaii
  • Interlaken, Switzerland
  • North Wollongong Beach, Sydney, Australia

  • Mount Everest, Nepal
  • Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
  • Victoria Falls, Zambia
  • Denarau Island, Fiji

93. Eat Authentic Cuisine in Another Country

Of course, you wouldn’t travel to another country just to eat and turn around and come back.

Dining at a cliffside Mediterranean cafe in Italy or Greece would make up its own bucket list trip.

Picture sipping wine and sinking your teeth into one of your favorite French restaurants in Paris.

Choose at least one of the best restaurants, pastry shops, or another kind of eatery before you go.

Don’t just wing it.

94. Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Growing up in Northeast Ohio, we had the NFL, and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame close by.

And there are many others around the world.

My favorite is the MLB (baseball) in Cooperstown, NY, the city itself makes for quite the experience.

Here is a list of other famous Halls of Fame:

  • National Baseball Hall of Fame- Cooperstown, NY
  • Pro Football Hall of Fame- North Canton, Ohio
  • Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum- Nashville, TN
  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame- Cleveland, OH
  • United States Astronaut Hall of Fame- Merritt Island, FL
  • Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame- Springfield, MA
  • World Golf Hall of Fame- St. Augustine, FL
  • Hockey Hall of Fame- Toronto, Ontario

95. Antarctica Expedition Cruise

This also makes the most unique travel bucket list ideas.

How many people do you know say they went to or at least saw the coast of Antarctica with their own eyes.

The site of icebergs or glaciers makes for quite an awe-inspiring experience.

Besides traveling to space, I can’t imagine another place that humans can travel to that is more unique and brings with it more bragging rights than going to Antarctica.

96. Strange Island Expedition

Some of the strangest islands are too dangerous to travel to, such as North Sentinel Island where an isolated indigenous tribe is completely broken off from the rest of society protects and prevents visitors.

However, there are others that you can visit and are still just as interesting with strange stories surrounding them.

Here is a list of some of those islands:

  • Easter Island (Rapa Nui)
  • Severnaya Zemlya
  • Pitcairn
  • Macquarie Island
  • Gough Island
  • Peter I Island
  • Christmas Island
  • Hashima Island
  • Okunoshima (Rabbit Island)

97. Dinosaur Fossil Hunting

You’ve seen dinosaur fossils in museums, but have you found any of your own?

You can do just that on a guided dinosaur fossil hunt.

Of course, you will not get to keep any souvenirs.

But I’m sure you can take lots of pictures of the memories.

Check out these guided dinosaur fossil expeditions:

  • Paleo Adventures in South Dakota
  • Dig for a Day in Wyoming
  • Baisch’s Dinosaur Digs in Montana

98. Mediterranian Cruise

Of all the cruises in the world, I think this one tops them all.

Mediterranian cruises can stop at ports in three different continents: Europe, Africa, and Asia.

As well as many different regions such as Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East, Scandinavia.

The luxuries and comforts of a cruise combined with the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea and the ports of world-famous cities.

  • Venice and Rome, Italy
  • Greece and the Greek Islands
  • The Amalfi Coast
  • Sicily
  • The Dalmatian Coast of Croatia and Montenegro
  • Corsica, France
  • Coastal Spain

Here are some of the best Mediterranian cruise lines for couples:

  • Viking Ocean Cruises
  • Seabourn Cruise Line
  • Azmara
  • Regent Seven Seas Cruises
  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Silversea Cruises
  • Cunard Line
  • Holland America Line

99. Glaciers and Iceberg Expeditions

Glacier Expedition | Photo Credit Ted Angstadt

This is just one of the coolest bucket list ideas.

If the wonders of nature fascinate you like waterfalls, volcanoes, large lakes, and famous rivers then this is the travel idea for you.

I’ve not seen one up close, but I have from the air, which was quite fascinating.

Don’t you get excited about the idea of seeing something up close that most have only seen on TV or in the movies?

Here is a list of places that offer glacier and iceberg expeditions:

  • Antarctica
  • Alaska
  • Greenland
  • Norway
  • Iceland
  • Patagonia, Argentina
  • British Colombian, Canada

100. Rainforest Tour

When I lived in Caracas, Venezuela, I couldn’t believe it when I saw wild macaws flying by my apartment/

But I can only imagine had I traveled south to the Amazon rainforests to see toucans, sloths, spider monkeys, or even crocodiles.

Here are some places where you can take guided rainforest tours:

  • Madagascar
  • Costa Rica
  • Peru
  • Ecuador
  • Sri Lanka
  • Panama
  • Malaysia
  • Belize
  • Panama
