If you want simple ways to monetize your blog, then consider utilizing your newsletter subscriber opt-in thank you page.
In this blog post I will show you 5 different thank you page examples to convert affiliate sales.
Up until now you I’d bet you’ve only used your thank you page to just confirm that they subscribed to your newsletter.
Something like this:
Basic Thank You Page NOT Optimized for Monetization
You miss out on converting affiliate sales because of this or a chance to convert a sale of your own product or even a tripwire sale.
Bottom line you need to change your thank you page ASAP to stop losing money.

Check out the example above from a Leadpages thank you page template.
Notice how you immediately see the confirmation message that you subscribed to a newsletter and that your free gift (lead magnet) is on its way via email to you.
Then you see the CTA offer to claim your spot on the free webinar. Where, of course, they will present to you a more advanced product or service.
The free webinar by itself offers high-quality content to solve a problem for the subscriber.
The webinar closely relates to the lead magnet, so the subscriber feels satisfied even if they do not purchase.
(Although they will still receive another chance at purchase in one of the follow-up emails- perhaps even offered a discount).
Why Your Thank You Page Can Convert Sales
For one, you have your new subscriber’s attention.
As a general rule, place your CTAs where you know that your visitors will see them.
That’s why display ads above the fold (ie. above or below your header or below your post image) tend to convert the best.
Your visitor’s eyeballs can’t help but focus on those spots.
Plus, in this case, your new subscriber has taken action and is primed to take more.
Visitors who take action are more valuable than ones who do not, especially ones who pay money.
Hence why someone who buys a tripwire product is more likely to buy a main product of yours or the ones who buy main initial products are more likely to purchase upsells.
(Passing through one door brings them one step closer to opening the next).
Makes sense, right?

3 Thank You Page Examples to Monetize Your Blog
1) [Basic] Thank You Page that Monetizes
I’ll start with a very easy Thank You Page that you can do in minutes.
If you get new subscribers on a daily basis then this could convert an affiliate sale as early as this week or even today. (No guarantees of course).
At the minimum expect clickthroughs to your affiliate sales pages very soon.
This indicates that you’ve at least accomplished the first step in this simple sales funnel.
Here is what you will accomplish in this first kind of monetizing Thank You Page:
- Confirm your receipt of their email
- Promise delivery of their free gift/gifts
- Present your CTA (Call-to-action) to clickthrough to your affiliate product’s sales page
You offer them the chance to go straight from the Thank You Page to your affiliate offer.
Check out my example on my other website InfidelityFirstAidKit.com from the dating and relationship niche.

- CTA Sub-headline
- Banner Image
- CTA Button
- CTA Link
More on Thank You Page Monetization Strategies
Now that you have a successful Thank You Page template to follow, what affiliate products should you recommend?
It will depend on the lead magnet you offer your visitors or the newsletter content.
The more closely your offer aligns with your content the higher the clickthrough rate you should expect.
Plus, the higher the sense of urgency and more clearly the new subscriber understands how the offer solves their problem the higher the clickthrough rate you will see.
Consider these two types of affiliate offers.
Cross-sell
Your affiliate offer complements your lead magnet or email content; it solves a similar but different solution that your new subscriber faces within the same topic
Upsell: your affiliate offer presents a more complete, comprehensive solution with multiple lessons, it dives deeper into the topic
Check out a current example of mine:
Example on One of My Blogs

Here’s what I offer in the lead magnet.
Top Secret Cheating Spouse Report
- Simple Techniques to Catch a Cheater
- Places to where cheaters hide evidence around the house
- When they hide it
- How to identify a change in habit predictable routine behavioral patterns to a cheating pattern
Affiliate Offer
A background check with Truthfinder, Insta Checkmate or Been Verified
Upsell
- Identifies the cheater’s lover through online pics and secret social media profiles
Cross-sell
- Finding digital evidence of cheating
- And yet still I could offer a guide how to legally confront a cheater with cheating evidence or how to handle it emotionally
And here are the stats for this thank you page year-to-date as of the end of May 2020.
75% clickthrough to affiliate product video sales page (Yes, that’s an insanely high clickthrough rate)
Just 1% sale conversion but the commission payout is high ($60), likely this product does not align enough with my lead magnet because a) the lead magnet pertains to physical evidence around the house and b) the affiliate product pertains to mostly online evidence
(As I look at this I should align the two better by creating a new lead magnet or I could employ the next thank you page monetization strategy that we will look at).
However, in this example, you do see that my affiliate offer provided my new subscribers both cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
Now let’s look at a more advanced technique to monetize your Thank You Page.
This one could increase your affiliate sales conversions because it offers a clearer picture of how the affiliate offer solves their problems or challenges.
2. Thank You Page with Short [Product Review]
Take it a step further than sending your new subscriber straight from the Thank You Page to your affiliate program’s sales page.
Add a short, scannable review after.
With Leadpages this is easy.
You never know what will work until you test out different methods.
This concept alone suggests that you should try out both and track which one performs better.
If one performs better to convert sales but the other converts more clickthroughs then consider combining both.
Insert multiple CTAs (buttons, text links and image links) and track their performance.
This will tell you:
- How far down the page visitors scroll
- And where they typically like to click

Here is my lead magnet offer to entice my subscribers to opt-in to my newsletter.
Text Message Package of 5 Free Gifts
- How to respond to boring texts from a man and turn the conversation into an exciting flirty exchange
- Strategies to make a man work to earn a woman’s affection and that puts her in charge
- Ways to instantly turn him on with simple and easy-to-follow text tricks
Affiliate Offer
Text Chemistry
Upsell
- More examples of copy-and-paste text conversations than my free gifts offer
- More videos than my package offers
Cross-sell
- How to handle yourself when he doesn’t respond or sends strange texts
- Additional strategies how to flirt and to grab his attention
I just checked my stats for year-to-date (2020) and here are the % of clickthroughs and sales conversations for my two Thank You Pages that I apply this strategy to.
12% clickthrough to affiliate product video sales page
(I noticed that I had an annoying pop up that led to a longer review of Text Chemistry on a blog post. I removed it and this could result in a higher click-through rate to the sales page).
14% sale conversion rate (including upsells)
This is pretty good, the product aligns well with my free lead magnet package.
Again, I created all these thank you pages with Leadpages.
I’ve used this tool for several years now and couldn’t live without it.
My email subscriber growth depends on it.

If you already have a list and want to grow it faster than I highly recommend this easy-to-use, high-quality, efficient tool to increase your opt-in rates.
This is one of my three most used and favorite internet marketing tools and one of two that get me paid.

3. Thank You Page with Free [Bonus] Offer for Affiliate Purchase
This idea is pretty slick!
Here you will create content set aside just for offering a bonus to a subscriber who purchases an affiliate product.
You will explain the details on your Thank You Page.
Then after they purchase you require that they email you a screenshot of proof of purchase.
What do you offer for a bonus?
Any more specific, a package of items or a bigger email eBook.
I offer a package of smaller eBooks, videos and even a practice exercise that I created on Google Forms.
I place all of these items on a page that I create in WordPress and give them access to it. You could even password-protect the page.
Check out the free lead magnet page where new subscribers access their package of free gifts.
Bonus Gifts Access Page

You can create simple videos with slide shows on PowerPoint or use Canva.com.
I find Canva easier to do this on.
Quite frankly I could not survive without Canva.com. I owe the majority of my traffic to Canva.com with the help of Pinterest.
Check out how it looks in Canva.

Then I use Screen-O-Matic to create screen shot videos with audio.

You could add background music or leave it without.
The bonus products must offer value.
They must be high-quality, at least good enough that someone would want to buy them.
Present this offer for the bonuses on your Thank You Page, or just do it at the end of the welcome email series and then randomly run campaigns to offer them.
(That’s how I am doing it now. But I should test out both ways).
Consider sending them special email series that you do not place in your ongoing email queues such as:
- 3 Text Mistakes that Turn Men Off and Annoy Them
- 3 Pics to Send Men that Make Them Obsess Over You
- 3 Dirty Texts that Make You Own Him
- 3 Flirty Male Mind Hacks that Make Him Want You More Than Ever
In the middle of your series you bring up that you have a special offer in the final email.
To make this approach even more enticing, offer a free download in the final email.
Just take a blog post and turn it into a PDF.
Designrr is inexpensive, just a $27 on-time-payment and does all the work for you.
Check it out.
That way they get something out of the last email even if they do not decide to take you up on your offer.
Then a reminder email the night before, another the day of and even one hour before the time of the launch.
Run the campaign for only 3 days to create urgency.
Send reminder emails every day and a final notice email to the people who do not buy.
Just expect with this approach that you will get some sales but some unsubscribes.
